The Wonders of MicroGlaze

I've been exploring the best ways to use photos printed on an ink jet printer in my crafting endeavors.  I came across a great product called MicroGlaze made by JudiKins.

After printing, you just rub a small amount of MicroGlaze over your image.  It sets the ink for you so that it doesn't bleed when applying other adhesive glazes.  The great part is that it dries and sets in 15 minutes!  I can definitely see the difference it makes.

I recently wanted to make a necklace using a picture of my cousin and his little boy.  I didn't have any MicroGlaze and was anxious to see how it would turn out without it.  The results were okay, but there was some obvious color distortion, mainly the bluish cast on his little face and the purple on his daddy's face.

I was super excited when I received my MicroGlaze in the mail a few days later.  It was easy to apply and as I said before, dried quickly.  I love not having a wait time!!  The difference in color is obvious.  No color bleeding here!

Lastly, here is a shot of the two side by side.  The quality is so much better!

Definitely well worth the price.  Oh, I forgot to mention that I got my mine for a great price.  I was only able to find it online, although I did check at several local scrapbook stores, Michael's and Joann's.  I did not actually check at our Archivers, but did not see it in their online store. When I got mine, Joann's online was having a half off sale.  In checking recently you can get it there for 25% off, which is still one of the cheapest prices I've seen.  Happy MicroGlazing!

Have Memo Board, Will Travel

I use these cute memo boards that I got on sale at Kohls when I need to transport my necklaces. (I lucked out and got them "buy one, get one for $1".) The great thing about these is that for some reason, they came with a small plastic handle on the back that flips up for carrying.

Not sure why it's there, but it makes for easy transporting!

It even has places for your fingers to slide right in.  When I arrive at my destination, I just slide the handles back down and you would never know they were even there.  Easy maneuverability and still a classy look.

For more information about the hooks I use, see the post below regarding the "Hercules Hooks" dry wall hooks.  I needed more hooks since that previous post and was able to find some similar to Hercules Hooks this weekend at Menards under a different name.  My guess is you can find them just about anywhere.

Picture This

I have seen several posts on Pinterest showing cute little ways to organize and store your jewelry.  Of course, I intended to follow the directions and make my own.  That is until I was shopping in Kohls and found a cute framed memo board on sale. I love a sale!! I also love the distressed look of this particular board.  It has since gone into clearance and is very hard to find.

The memo board was a great find, but what I stumbled upon next was an even greater find.  Because the board's padding was so thick, I came upon a conundrum in finding some kind of tack that would actually stick out enough to hang my jewelry from .  Then I thought about the dry wall hooks my parents had given me a while back.  Because of their curve, they were perfect!

These little gems are called Hercules Hooks.  I guess they may not be tried and true for hanging pictures from your dry wall, but they are great for hanging necklaces!  They work best in thickly padded memo-boards.  However, I also use them in my thinner "travel boards" that I use when taking my necklaces to show potential customers. The thinner backing can cause them to slide down a little, but they still seem to work just fine.

I have seen them listed as being sold at Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, and I am guessing most home improvement stores.  Happy hanging!
