A New Year, A New Technique

My amazing husband bought some alcohol inks for me to try this Christmas.  He knows that an easy way to keep his wife happy is to keep her crafting.  Here are some pictures of pieces made with the inks and a few other new mediums I've been trying.

I LOVE fall!  I love the smell of the falling leaves, the crunch of them beneath my feet and of course- the colors.  It's my favorite time of the year.  In honor of all things autumn, I've created some new pieces.

In creating some necklaces for my "Let's Go Bucks" collection, I inadvertently created a piece that kept making me think of Mickey Mouse. When I could stand it no longer, I went to Wikipedia and looked up a picture of him.  Then I clearly knew without a doubt why I kept thinking this. Here it is- The Mickey Mouse piece side by side with the picture from Wikipedia:

Football Season Has Arrived

If your house is like mine, the weekend television viewing has turned from movies and shows to ESPN, Fox Sports, and college football with a little NFL sprinkled into the mix. In appreciation of this, we at Noonday Sun are getting into the spirit by creating some Football themed jewelry. A couple of the beloved teams in our neck of the woods are Ohio State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. In honor of them, we have been hard at work.

I like that these two in particular give a more sophisticated look to your weekend football attire.  That way if you want to wear something other than a jersey or sweatshirt, you have a necklace to dress up your outfit.

Look Alike

     In a recent conversation with a friend, I happened upon the thought that one of our newest necklaces bears a slight resemblance to Lady Edith Crawley from Downton Abbey.  I think we will definitely have to call this piece "The Lady Edith".  What do you think?  We will include her in our shop in the coming weeks.

Salted Caramel Crackers

I've decided to post about something other than necklaces for a change . I guess you could say that I'm taking a "snack break". The other night while getting ready for a Noonday Sun Open House, I had a craving for something sweet. There was not much in the house to satisfy my sweet tooth. That's when I came across some generic Ritz-type crackers and then spied caramel dip for dipping apples slices. The thought occurred to me that combining the two might give me that salted caramel taste I'm so fond of. I took my cracker, dipped it in the caramel and was pleasantly satisfied. ( I wonder if that's how the Reese's people felt upon their invention of the chocolate/ peanut-butter combination.) 

Fast forward to tonight, our lady's Bible study get together. I wanted to take something that was quick and easy, but wanted to make my little combo a bit more fancy. Here's what I came up with.

To make these, you need caramel apple dip and Ritz-like crackers.  I got the Kroger brand of both and they turned out great.

You will also need an icing bag and tip to make the fancy design.

After inserting the caramel into the bag, just pipe a design like you would when making cut-out cookies or cupcakes.

Simple and oh so yummy.  They were a big hit with the ladies as well.
